TRANSIT VISA FOR LAYOVERS WHEN LEAVING AIRPORT

Question: We are flying from London to Tokyo with Vietnam Airlines with around 15hours layout in Hanoi outbound and HCMC inbound. We would like to leave the airport on both occasions (1 week in Toyko). What sort of VISA should we get (UK passport holders)and how do we go about getting one? There is very little information online about Transit VISA and especially the process. Anwers:
